Graduation Ceremonies of BCAS Campus
The Graduation Ceremonies of BCAS Campus were held on 25th November 2017 as usual in two sessions at the Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) Theatre. The first session was hosted by BCAS Campus for their long standing UK collaborative partner the University of Wolverhampton. The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Geoff Layer was at hand to present the awards. A total of 297 students received their awards Bachelor and Master Level awards in several IT disciplines, Business Management, Law and Business Administration (MBA).
With the Vice Chancellor of university a senior team of academics comprising , Dr Wayne Heaselgrave, Senior Lecturer, Biomedical Science and Dr Petula Nurse, Head of STEM Outreach & Community Engagement and Principal Lecturer in Biomedical Science, Dr Stephen Malone, Associate Dean, Business Engagement and Lifelong Learning were also present at the stage along with the Board of Governors of BCAS Campus Chairman Eng Abdul Rahuman and Dean of Academic affairs Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama.
In the second segment of the Ceremony 677 students who had successfully completed their BTED HNDs in Quantity Surveying, Law, Business Management, Biomedical Science, IT Disciplines, Civil Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering had their Diplomas awarded. Ms Premila Paulraj, Assistant Vice President and Suriya Bibile, Territory Manager of Pearson UK joined this session to witness the students being awarded their BTEC HND delivered by BCAS Campus.
Dr Mahmood Datoo, Head of Civil and Building Services Engineering of the London South Bank University had specially visited from the UK to confer the university’s BCAS-delivered degrees to 44 Civil Engineering and 74 Commercial Management (Quantity Surveying) graduates.
Professor Reima Suomi of the Turku University of Finland gracing both the occasions as a Guest of Honour was a special feature.
Parents, siblings and friends of the recipients of awards were present attending the functions to witness their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and friends receiving their degrees and diplomas from their respective UK universities and the Pearson, UK’s BTEC HND awards.
