BCAS Expo 2015: An Educational Exhibition with a difference
BCAS Campus ranked first among Sri Lanka’s private higher education institutions by the prestigious LMD magazine had organized a Technological Exhibition titled “BCAS Expo 2015”. The exhibition was held on 26, 27 and 28 November 2015 from 9.00 am to 6 pm at its City Campus, 256, Galle Road, Wellawatte, Colombo-6.
The Chief Guest on the first day inaugural ceremony (26) was Mr Suriya Bibile the Territory Manager Pearson UK while the second day session was graced by Mrs. Anuradha Wijekoon – Additional Secretary, Non-state Universities, Ministry of Higher Education and with Ms K H S Krishanthi Director- Non-state Universities, Ministry of Higher Education as the Guest of Honour. While the Chairman BCAS Campus Eng. Abdur Rahman and his senior management team were present on these days, the exhibition was formally declared closed on the third day (28/11) in the presence of the Chairman, Senior Management and all BCAS staff.
BCAS Expo 2015 showcased interesting and amazing exhibits and projects innovated and designed entirely by the students of the faculties of Engineering, Computing, Biomedical Science and Law. The robot assembled with e-wastes was the cynosure of all exhibits. The Bio-medical Science students had at hand a cabin for free medical and blood checkups for the benefit of the visitors. The Moot Court demonstrated by the law students interested the visitors.
The orginising committee of BCAS Expo 2015 had also invited some handpicked private organizations in the industry and banks for the Job Fair which was a part of the exhibition. The purpose was to get the students to introduce themselves to the organizations for prospective jobs and get proper career guidance and counselling. The bank desks at the job fair advised them on obtaining loan facilities to continue their chosen course of study up to bachelor’s and master’s.
Aside the exhibition and job fair, “education clinics” were conducted by professionals attached to BCAS Campus to those interested in studying abroad. Further, all three days of the event had had exciting competitions for the visitors who were mostly students and prizes and trophies were awarded to the winners by the guests. Noticeably, there were many hundreds of students and teachers from outstations.
