It will help students develop analysis and evaluation skills which can be applied to existing realities in the corporate world. Thus, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the various functional areas of Civil Engineering in the context of the global construction environment.
Department of Civil Engineering has 4 specific laboratories in the fields of Material Science, Engineering Geology & Soil Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulics. The department shares the research and education tasks with National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), Hydraulic Research Laboratory of Irrigation Department (HRL of Irrigation Department), Institute of Surveying and Mapping Diyatalawa (ISMD), Irrigation Training Institute (ITI) Galgamuwa and National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA).
Department of Civil Engineering is organizing a number of training opportunities collaborated with NAITA in local industries. These invaluable opportunities give both HND and Top up students to work along-side professionals on real-world problems. In addition, the department is providing a 10 days rigorous surveying training camp at ITI and ISMD, it provides students the solid knowledge on surveying and handling with latest surveying instruments (Total Station, GPS etc.) including mapping software (GIS).
