BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying

Quantity Surveyor

Since Construction Industry was my focus, I choose Maths stream in my Advanced level studies at ST/Mary’s College, Trincomalee.  Just after schooling I was supposed to find a proper path to reach my dreams come true.I was so fortunate that I got to know about BCAS, (British College of Applied Studies) through one of my good friend, also an alumnus of BCAS.

The very first step with BCAS
I have decided to follow BTEC Higher National Diploma in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics and started the course on 30th January 2012 at BCAS under department of Quantity Surveying Batch 29. It was a one and a half years of journey with excellent lecturers, guides and college mates in BCAS until August 2013.
Throughout all the semesters I got excellent guidance and lectures by my beloved lecturers and successfully completed my Higher National Diploma. I’m so thankful to BCAS management and all my lecturers who helped me light up my path.
Achievement in Industrial Training
As a part of HND modules, I’ve gone through Industrial Training at Sierra Construction Limited as a professional Quantity Surveyor from October 2012 to January 2013. I worked with a commercial building project for ‘Free Lanka Capital Holdings Plc’ at Borella, Sri Lanka. That training let me apply all my theoretical knowledge in real life work place. It was so challenging yet I didn’t fail to grab ‘DISTINCTION’ at final assessment of training by BCAS.
Bachelor’s Degree.
As soon as I completed my HND I decided to continue my studies and looked for a perfect university. Again I got chance to continue my studies with BCAS and done my Bachelor’s degree awarded by London South Bank University. I was one of the 1st batch students of LSBU in BCAS from September 2013 to September 2014. We had both Local and overseas (UK) lecturers to guide us and completed my degree programme successfully with Honours pass.
Real life achievements
As I completed HND I got carrier path guidance from my lecturers. Fortunately I got my first job at QServe outsource Sri Lankan branch based in Qatar. That was an outstanding experience as a fresher. I team up with a real skill set of young Quantity Surveyors and worked for numerous large projects based in Qatar. Msheireb Downtown Doha – Phase 03 is one of the remarkable projects I worked with, at pre tender stage which is the world’s first sustainable downtown regeneration project.
As I complete my Bachelor’s Degree I joined my father’s construction company ‘R.Ravichandramohan construction and material supply’ which was known as ‘RR Group Pvt., Ltd’ earlier. While working there I got chances to attained workshops and training courses arranged by CIDA (Construction Industry Development Authority).
As I decided to expand my knowledge and experience I traveled to Singapore and found job at Dongah Geological Engineering Co., Ltd which is my current job from October 2015. Currently I’m handling two projects from Singapore Land and Transportation Authority (LTA).
“Just a little step on a correct path in a correct time with confidence will lead to best destination”
I wish BCAS management, lecturers and students all the very best for great future ahead.
