Programme Overview
Comprehensive introduction to the programme
The BSc (Hons) Computer Science in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science is a one-year Level 6 Top-Up programme that enables students to achieve a full UK Honours degree in Computer Science. The programme is awarded by Goldsmiths, University of London and delivered at BCAS Campus, Sri Lanka. It is designed for students who have completed a relevant Level 5 qualification and wish to advance their academic and professional expertise in artificial intelligence and data science.
The programme provides specialised knowledge in machine learning, predictive modelling, data analytics, intelligent systems design, statistical reasoning, algorithmic decision-making, model evaluation, and data-driven optimisation. Students will apply artificial intelligence and data science principles to real-world datasets and complex computational problems.
A central component of the programme is a 45-credit research-informed individual project undertaken throughout the academic year. The project allows students to demonstrate independent investigation, analytical reasoning, data preparation, AI or data analytics solution development, performance evaluation, and critical examination of the ethical, legal, and societal implications of artificial intelligence.
The curriculum combines theoretical understanding with applied learning through practical laboratory work, case-based analysis, scenario-driven assessments, and project-based problem-solving. Emphasis is placed on responsible AI, data governance, transparency, bias mitigation, data privacy, secure deployment, and alignment with contemporary professional standards in artificial intelligence and data science.
