Comprehensive introduction to the programme

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science in Cyber Security & Digital Forensics is a one-year Level 6 Top-Up programme that enables students to achieve a full UK Honours degree in Computer Science. The programme is awarded by Goldsmiths, University of London and delivered at BCAS Campus, Sri Lanka.

The programme is designed for students who have completed a relevant Level 5 qualification and wish to specialise in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. It provides advanced study in information security, ethical hacking, threat analysis, secure system architecture, vulnerability management, incident response, infrastructure protection, and digital forensic investigation.

Students will develop the analytical and technical capabilities required to identify, assess, and mitigate cyber threats, investigate security incidents, acquire and analyse digital evidence, and respond to security challenges across networked and cloud-based environments.

A central component of the programme is a 45-credit research-informed individual project undertaken throughout the academic year. The project enables students to investigate complex cyber security, offensive and defensive technologies, governance, risk and compliance, or digital forensic challenges, apply appropriate technical or investigative methodologies, evaluate evidence or system performance, and demonstrate independent research and critical reflection.

The curriculum combines theoretical foundations with applied laboratory practice through penetration testing activities, vulnerability assessments, forensic tool utilisation, case analysis, network security configuration, and simulated incident-response exercises. Emphasis is placed on professional ethics, legal requirements, security governance, and the responsible handling of digital evidence.

Applicants must have successfully completed a recognised Level 5 qualification, such as a Higher National Diploma or an equivalent qualification in Computing or a related discipline.
