Programme Overview
Comprehensive introduction to the programme
The BSc (Hons) Computer Science in Digital Media & Immersive Technologies is a one-year Level 6 Top-Up programme that enables students to achieve a full UK Honours degree in Computer Science. The programme is awarded by Goldsmiths, University of London and delivered at BCAS Campus, Sri Lanka.
The programme is designed for students who have completed a relevant Level 5 qualification and wish to specialise in Digital Media and Immersive Technologies. It provides advanced study in multimedia systems, interactive application development, user experience design, and immersive technologies, including virtual and augmented reality environments.
Students will critically examine the computational principles that support digital content creation, human-computer interaction, real-time rendering, multimedia delivery, and interactive system architecture. They will also develop practical skills in designing, implementing, testing, and evaluating user-centred immersive digital experiences.
A central component of the programme is a 45-credit research-informed individual project undertaken throughout the academic year. The project enables students to conduct independent creative and technical investigation, apply appropriate design and development methodologies, evaluate user interactions, and reflect critically on usability, accessibility, ethics, and professional practice.
The curriculum combines theoretical understanding with applied studio and laboratory activities through interactive prototyping, multimedia development, usability testing, case analysis, virtual reality development, and project-based learning. Emphasis is placed on innovation, accessibility, user-centred design, system optimisation, and contemporary professional standards in digital media and immersive technologies.
