Programme Overview
Comprehensive introduction to the programme
The BSc (Hons) Computer Science in Software Engineering is a one-year Level 6 Top-Up programme that enables students to achieve a full UK Honours degree in Computer Science. The programme is awarded by Goldsmiths, University of London and delivered at BCAS Campus, Sri Lanka. It is designed for students who have completed a relevant Level 5 qualification and wish to advance their academic and professional expertise in Software Engineering.
The programme provides specialised knowledge in advanced software development practices, software architecture, system design, quality assurance, and professional software engineering standards. Students will critically examine the theoretical foundations of modern computing systems while applying structured development methodologies to solve real-world software engineering problems.
A central component of the programme is a 45-credit research-informed individual project undertaken throughout the academic year. The project allows students to demonstrate independent research, critical analysis, problem-solving, system design, and technical implementation skills.
The curriculum combines academic knowledge with applied learning through practical development activities, collaborative workshops, case-based analysis, and scenario-driven assessments. Emphasis is placed on professional ethics, secure and sustainable software design, and alignment with contemporary industry standards.
