Programme Overview

Comprehensive introduction to the programme

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science in Web & Mobile Application Engineering is a one-year Level 6 Top-Up programme that enables students to achieve a full UK Honours degree in Computer Science. The programme is awarded by Goldsmiths, University of London and delivered at BCAS Campus, Sri Lanka. It is designed for students who have completed a relevant Level 5 qualification and wish to advance their academic and professional expertise in web and mobile application engineering.

The programme provides specialised knowledge in scalable web architecture, enterprise application development, mobile systems design, distributed applications, API integration, responsive application frameworks, and cloud-based deployment. Students will explore full-stack development, service-oriented architecture, database integration, cloud services, authentication and authorisation, and native and cross-platform mobile development.

A central component of the programme is a 45-credit research-informed individual project undertaken throughout the academic year. The project allows students to demonstrate independent investigation, structured application development, architectural design, system implementation, performance and scalability evaluation, and critical consideration of usability, security, accessibility, and deployment requirements.

The curriculum combines theoretical foundations with applied learning through full-stack application development, mobile application prototyping, architectural modelling, system-design workshops, cloud-deployment activities, and project-based assessments. Emphasis is placed on secure coding, cross-platform development, system optimisation, accessibility, professional practice, and alignment with contemporary standards in web and mobile application engineering.
